1. I am happy to watch a genuine and brave Jew like Mr. Miko Peled who have the courage to truly speak their mind.

I shall wait to read this honest and valuable book.

  2. I enjoyed your video, Miko and all the sentiments and facts enclosed therein.

If people with your background can’t get the message across as to the solutions available for progress to a peaceful solution, then no one can.

Sadly, it is my conclusion that perhaps the Zionists have gone too far, can’t see for themselves any possible way out of the corner into which they have painted themselves. We all must ensure that regardless of the atrocities that have occurred, the Zionists still can see a way forward with ‘honour’ and one which will not reflect too badly on them and their leaders.

I fear that they may see such an obstacle as insurmountable. They must be told this is not the case.

Keep up your good works, Miko. Your an inspiration.

  3. The presentation on YouTube was quite thought-provoking. As a social justice advocate and a Catholic Christian, I have long considered Israel the absolute home of Judaism. The Jews are, after all, God’s chosen people. We often discuss this in the Bible Study I facilitate. Miko Peled has presented a true alternate focus. I look forward to reading his book and wonder when it will be available.

  4. Dear Miko Peled,
Just a note of gratitude for sharing your own experience in the context of a larger experience.
    With admiration and respect.

  5. Miko,
Bless you for what you are doing! Your father was obviously a great men, and you are great keeper of his legacy! I am sorry that I did not know anything about you and your family before…Glad to getting know now and can not wait for the book.
Following a quote of your brother in law “I am sure that this is what Smadar’s grandfather would have wanted me to do” – I am sure your father would be proud of this book as much!
My Kind Regards and RESPECT to you and your family.

  6. All respect to you and your solid support for the BDS movement that seeks non-violent means of achieving peace for Israel – Palestine. Who will benefit most? Everyone, but the rights of all will be respected.

  7. Dear Mr. Peled,
I am a jordanian of Palestinian origin, born in Jerusalem in 1946.
    I read about your late father,General Peled,and
no wonder that such a great man like him gave birth
to a great son like you.
It is only with the way of thinking that you have we,
both Arabs and Israelis, can stop suffering similar to that of Nurit after losing Smadar[God rest her soul in
I look forward to reading The Generals Son.

  8. Salam/Shalom Miko straight from Pakistan. We need more people like yourself who are able to separate truth from myth, fiction and propaganda even if it means they are at the risk of being ridiculed, or even imprisoned and tortured and killed.
I am not knowledgeable enough as yet to comment on subjects like a one-state solution for Palestinian problem or secular democracy but I admire your courage, honesty and thoughts. I will surely be reading your book.
    May God bless you!

  9. Please let me know when the book is released. I am quite interested in reading it! Thank you so much for speaking out. 🙂

    1. Thank you for your kind comment. Yes I do quite a lot of speaking and I am happy and available to do more.

  10. It is encouraging to note that there are people in Israel who are brave enough to stand against injustice. This gives a hope that sense will eventually prevail.

  11. I am truly impressed with Mr. Peled’s frankness in describing his family’s profile and history and most importantly about his truthful opinion and honesty in outlaying the truth behind Gaza, the occupation and the Palestinians. Your ideology is excellent and we hope that reality as you described it will prevail.

  12. Too bad that people like you are not the same people that stand to make the hard political decisions. It is always so, regrettably. Even if you awaken one person only, you would have done well. And you have enlightened many. Looking forward to read your book, when it sees the light of day. Congratulations.

  13. Miko Peled is to be much admired for telling the truth about so many misconceptions — I am a teacher and a student of Middle East History, esp. Palestine/Israel.
Modern Israel is not the religious kingdom established by God in the Bible, but rather a modern secular state, not lauded by religious orthodox Jews, which was man-made with so much terrorism and killing of Palestinians since at least the 1920s. Both sides have committed crimes against humanity and must admit that, seek reconciliation and compromise, and establish peace, under God, with liberty and justice for all. I am with the many who support a one-state solution, as happened in South Africa.

  14. God bless you for speaking the truth. There are not many around who would do what you have done.

  15. Miko Peled you are what I call Hero fpr peace and truth and you are evidance that the truth and justice will prevail I like to talk to you and arrange interview infront of mass audionce of Arabs and Jews

  16. Miko,
I co-direct a club in Rossmoor Senior Community in Walnut Creek CA called “Jewish Voice for a Just Peace,” a chapter of the national Jewish Voice for Peace. We are 25 mi east of San Francisco.
We are taking a vacation for the summer but will resume monthly (or more frequent) meetings in September. If you are ever in the Bay Area, we would be so pleased if you could find time to speak to us. We’re 40 minutes from SF by Bart, 20 min from Berkeley/Oakland by car or BART.

  17. I greatly appreciate hearing your views and I hope that they may influence some of the Americans who seem to blindly support Israel dispite the fact that it goes against our national interest. I count on Obama to bring some reality to our policies with Israel. I wonder why all the comments regarding your book are so positive. Did those many who disagree with you turn off your words? You must continue speaking. Good Luck.

  18. An amazingly powerful, moving, knowledgeable and precise testament. This is the first I’ve heard of this book and I will certainly spread the word about it as widely as I can. All good wishes with the book; I sincerely hope that the book, and its key message, get through the fug of disinformation and power.

  19. Hi Miko,

I commend you on being the true son of your father and speaking up. Your work will go a long way in breaking down barriers between the Jews and Muslims. This could also lead to greater understanding of actual facts and events.

I would definitely like to talk to you about the possibility of public speaking. Please let me know your contact or I can send you mine to further discuss it.

  20. It is rare to see an Israeli whose father was a General in the Israeli Military share so eloquently an alternate view of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. I look forward to reading ‘The General’s son’.

  21. Hi-

I’ve viewed this video, listened to your interview on Arab Voices radio and read most of your postings – thank you for your courage to speak out! When will your book be available? Your voice is greatly needed in Eugene, Oregon and I would like to see you come to this Zio-nest of a town when your book is published.

    Mariah Leung, co-director
    Al-Nakba Awareness Project

    1. Thank you. the book will be out later this year and if you subscribe to this bog you will get updates. I would be glad to come to Eugene when it is out.

  22. Thank you, Miko,

I could check and possibly arrange other venues for you in Oregon. Your presentation would be filmed and broadcast at some point on community TV. Jack Dresser, co-director of Al-Nakba Awareness Project, could do an interview with you on his community TV program and this would further promote your book. Here is the link to one he did with Richard Forer when he came here.

Richard Forer came at a time when the “organized Jewish community” tried to paint us as anti-Semitic (or worse) because I had petitioned our Eugene Human Rights Commission to issue a strong statement condemning Israel for the Mavi Marmara massacre. Here is the Register Guard’s write up: http://tinyurl.com/4bwsmo7

And to view the slanderous character assassination against us in the Jewish Review, see here:

I hope this doesn’t scare you away.

    Best wishes,

  23. Thank you Miko Peled for the witness you bear on behalf of the moral imagination and its capacity to evolve and grow and become more inclusive, more complex, more and more humane. Your interview does indeed foster hope. I look forward to the book.

  24. I’m part of a Palestinian family by marriage. I cannot wait to read your book. I’ve just finished listening to your video-talk, and don’t quite know how to express my thanks, deeply, deeply. Please accept a virtual hug!

  25. Hello Miko,

I am watching TV live on the 50th memorial of tearing down the Berlin Wall… What just makes me so sad and actually sick to my stomach is the hypocracy of all the speeches that are given. Of course it has been a great tragedy and we are all grateful that the Wall has come down. But hearing them talk about freedom and humanity .. while another Wall exists in West Bank… how more hypocritical can we get?

    1. Thanks for your comment. Yes the hypocrisy is quite unbelievable. But be assure, the Wall in the West Bank and around Gaza will fall and sooner than people think.

  26. Miko Peled is a statesman for compassion and courage. He calls forth the best in all of us. Marshall

  27. thanks for standing up for what is right even if you stand alone im shure your level of conscience will become contages as it spreds across the world your the answer to the worlds problems not only in the middle east but everywhere

  28. The serenity, confidence and sincerity in the truth you speak is amazing! It takes immense effort and patience to deconstruct an elaborate lie manufactured in an unjust state. It takes even greater personal pain to then tell the truth. You have done all of that, and I respect you deeply for your commitment to truth and justice.

You will change the discourse, Miko Peled. I’m eagerly and impatiently waiting for the book to be out. It must get maximum publicity.

More power to your voice. May God bless you.

  29. I can’t wait to have this book between my hands, and to to offer it as a most precious, valued record.

Thank you for your gallantry .I ‘m lost for words!!!!!!

Please put it on Amazon for preordering. I live in the UK and your form is only valid in the US.

  30. thank you for your dedation ihope you can make a difference as most christians dont think israel can do no rong because they are chosen by god wtth nostrings attached my husband told me about youre site he is jewish aslo michael gardner

  31. I’m amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s
both equally educative and engaging, and let me tell you, you have hit the
nail on the head. The issue is something which too few people are
speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy that I
came across this in my hunt for something regarding this.
