Investigative reporting has revealed that special interest, pro-Israel organizations have actively worked to disrupt, discredit and ultimately bring down progressive candidates in the U.S. and the UK. Whether engaging in public smear campaigns or working under the radar to thwart elections, pro-Israel organizations and individuals have invested millions of dollars in resources to weaken and sabotage progressive electoral campaigns. The common thread among the targets of these attacks is their persistent call to secure Palestinian rights and stand up against Israeli aggression, thus threatening the unflinching U.S. and UK support for the state of Israel.

In Britain, the pro-Israel, neo-liberal establishment worked tirelessly to tarnish the character of Labour Party leader, Jeremy Corbyn, and Labour MP, Chris Williamson. Their targets in the Labour Party were carelessly and wrongfully accused of antisemitism and painted as representing an existential threat to British Jews.

The situation in the U.S. seems to be following a similar playbook. Pro-Israel Super PACs tied to groups like AIPAC poured money into attack ads against Bernie Sanders in key primary states. We are currently witnessing pro-Israel groups working in collaboration with party strategists to unseat progressive leaders who support Palestinian rights, such as Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez.

In this two-part online event,  a round table discussion with esteemed journalists, politicians and political activists from both the U.S. and the UK will tackle the question, “Are Zionist Organizations Targeting Progressive Politicians?”.

  • What evidence do we have that demonstrates the targeting of U.S. and UK progressive, pro-Palestine politicans/electoral movements by pro-Israel groups and their allies?
  • What tactics did/do these Zionist special interest groups employ to cause their desire shifts in the greater electoral process and public sphere?
  • How do we tackle this dangerous phenomenon and bring issues of Palestinian justice forward and past the propaganda?
