12 Years of Injustice: The Story of the Holy Land Foundation Five

Summary:

Join us for this important webinar event to commemorate 12 years since the unjust prosecution of The Holy Land Foundation Five (HLF5): Shukri Abu Baker, Mohammad El-Mezain, Ghassan Elashi, Mufid Abdulqader, and Abdulrahman Odeh, who are each serving between 15 and 65 years in federal penitentiaries. Miko Peled, author of the 2018 book  “Injustice: The Holy Land Foundation Five”  will be speaking with the sons and daughters of the HLF5, in addition to Leena Al-Arayan, Executive Director of the Coalition for Civil Freedoms and the daughter of Dr. Sami Al- Arayan, another Palestinian-American who was deported on trumped up “terrorism charges”.

In 2013, Miko started investigating this pivotal case; one mired with miscarriages of justice with the men’s lawyers. He developed a relationship with the men’s families about the devastating effects the case had on their lives. He also traveled to the remote federal prison complexes where the men were held to conduct deep interviews. “Injustice” traces the labyrinthine course of this case, presenting a terrifying picture of governmental overreach in post-9/11 America.
